I am a social scientist currently working as a Research Manager at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. I am specialised in comparative welfare state research and studying social and economic inequalities. In my research I examine welfare states mechanisms and policy outcomes on different groups of population, such as single parents, long-term unemployed, social assistance recipients, persons with disabilities, and low wage workers (e.g. care workers). My fields of interest include employment and labour market, social benefits and services, family policies and families’ wellbeing, and politics of gender and care.
I hold a a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Turku, Finland. In 2022, I was awarded with the title of Docent (Adjunct Professor) in Social and Public Policy by the University of Helsinki. My research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals in the field of social sciences, such as Journal of European Social Policy, Journal of Social Policy and Social Politics. As a Doctoral Student and University Teacher at the University of Turku in 2009-2017, I taught in several courses on research methods and social research theory for students in social policy and social work.
In addition to academic research and as part of my current position at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, I have conducted policy evaluation and monitoring for the Finnish government on different policies and programs, including the Finnish Work-Ability Program (2020-2023), impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on gender equality in Finland (2020-2022), the Social Assistance reform (2019) and the Finnish Inclusive Social Security experiment (2018-2019). I also collaborate as a researcher and policy expert with European Union organisations and initiatives such as SOCIEUX +, contributing to policy dialogue on social protection, employment, gender equality and social inclusion.
